VBODA District VII All-District Band Auditions will be held at John Battle High School in Washington County on December 10, 2016. Students trying out will need to bring a $10 registration fee (Cash Only, No Checks) along with money to eat lunch from concessions at John Battle. Dress is the same as a normal school day.
Once a student has arrived at John Battle and checked in with registration, they will be given an audition number and will wait in the JBHS Auditorium with the rest of the students to be called.
Transportation will be provided from George Wythe HS to John Battle HS and back to GWHS after the all auditions have finished. Once a student finishes their audition they can be picked up at John Battle as long as a parent checks them out with Mr. Lewis.

On Saturday, December 3rd the Mighty Maroon Marching Band will travel to Sussex Central High School for the FB Semi-Finals Playoff Game. We will stop for lunch and dinner on the way to and from the game. Students will need to bring money for these stops.
Due to the game the band will not participate in the Wytheville Christmas Parade and will not have parade practice on Tuesday and Thursday. Indoor Drumline & Winter Guard schedules will adjust accordingly.
The Mighty Maroon Band traveled to Lexington, NC for their last band competition at North Davidson High School. The Band finished 2nd in their class, winning 1st in Drum Major, 2nd in Music, Marching, & General Effect.

Congratulations to the George Wythe Mighty Maroon Marching Band for earning a rating of Superior, the highest rating a band can earn, at State Marching Assessment at Richlands High School this past Saturday, October 22nd. The Band is half way to becoming a Virginia Honor Band only needing to earn a Superior at State Concert Band Assessment in the Spring.
The Band also earned a rating of Superior at the Tazewell Competition as well as 1st Place in Marching and Percussion & 2nd Place in Music, General Effect, Color Guard, and Drum Major.
The George WYthe Band will be ordering Polos, Hoodies, & Hats from GTM soon. If you would like to purchase one please write your name and the number of items you want on the order form below. Checks can be made out to the George Wythe Band Boosters. Please return the order form and payment by October 31st.
The Mighty Maroon Band have a home football game Vs. Patrick Henry this Friday. Saturday the MMMB will travel to Richlands HS for State Marching Assessment and then to Tazewell HS for the Clinch River Band Festival. Click the button below for times.
The Mighty Maroon Band traveled to Salem Stadium in Salem, Virginia on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 to compete in the Southwestern Virginia Regional Band Competition. The Band came in 1st in Effect, Color Guard, & Percussion and 2nd Place in Visual & Music. The band came in 2nd Place in their class and received the viewer's choice Band of the Day.
The Mighty Maroon Band traveled to Glenvar High School on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 to compete in the Glenvar Highlander Marching Competition. The Band came in 2nd Place in Class A earning 1st Place in Percussion, Drum Major, & General Effect, 2nd Place Music, and 3rd Place in Marching & Color Guard. Congratulations to Abby Storms who had the highest Drum Major score of the Day.

The First Home Football Game will be on Friday, September 2nd, 2016 Vs. the Fort Chiswell High School Pioneers. Food will be available at 5:00 PM, Dress Time is 5:30 PM, Warm-up at 6:00 PM, and we march down at 6:30 PM.

Starting on Thursday, August 11th the Marching Band will practice after school every Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday from 3:30 - 5:30 PM.

There will be a Parent Meeting in the Scott Memorial Middle School Cafeteria on Thursday, August 11th @ 6:00 PM.

The MMMB compete is four Band Competitions this year.
September 24th @ Glenvar High School in Salem, VA; October 8th @ Salem Stadium in Salem, VA; October 22nd @ Richlands High School, in Richlands, VA (State Assessment); & end the season November 5th @ North Davidson High School in Lexington, NC.
The Mighty Maroon Band will also host their own Band Festival on October 15th @ George Wythe High School.
The George Wythe Mighty Maroon Band will be traveling to Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday, July 31 to see the DCI Show Tour of Champions. The Tour of Champions event series is an exciting live entertainment format featuring eight of the top corps from last summer, giving fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the drum corps experience with exclusive fan-member interaction, pre-show and intermission entertainment, and an en-masse finale on top of the corps' traditional competitive productions.
The band has room for 8 additional chaperones to travel on the bus with the band to see the show. Tickets are $30 a piece. If you are interested please register below and send in your money as soon as you can. We have a limited number of spots!

The George Wythe High School Mighty Maroon Band Leadership went to Camp Powhatan on July 22nd, 2016 to participate in their Leadership Program as well experience the High Ropes Course. Great Job Abby Storms, Jared Younger, Quinn Dove, Savanna Viars, Ethan Lamrouex, Madeline Fowler, Hannah Dishner, Jennifer Clatterbuck, Ross Brown, Nick Meredith, and Cortney Phaup.
The George Wythe High School Band Boosters will be providing concessions for the Branded Summer Youth Conference again this year and are in need for volunteers to work in concessions and/or individually wrapped baked goods. The event is on August 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM @ Elizabeth Brown Park.
The money raised from this fundraiser will help the Band Boosters continue to help fund many aspects of the George Wythe & Scott Memorial Band Program. Please sign up below to help with one of the two shifts or bring baked goods.
